I’m always pleased when someone asks me to make something which is special to them, so was over the moon when I was asked to make this boxer dog. Although not exactly like the picture I was sent, after lots of crochet, pulling out, unpicking and re-crocheting, this little fella was born and I for one think he is a cute little guy. I’m super pleased with how he turned out.
Kate and Mim Mim
CBEEBIES, crochet, Kate and Mim Mim, UncategorizedThe run up to Christmas was a busy time with lots of orders and craft fairs, so it’s been a little while since I posted some pictures of my handiwork. I was asked to make this little fella by a friend of mine. Now my children are all grown up so I had no idea who Kate and Mim Mim are but thanks to good old google there were countless pictures online for me to take inspiration. All the while I was making Mim Mim I was questioning how good it was going to look, as, until the parts were all fitted together, I must admit it didn’t look great and I thought I had lost my touch. But as you can see once he was sewn together the finished piece is super dooper cute. I was absolutely over the moon as was the recipient – so over the moon was she that she couldn’t wait for her brother’s birthday to give it to him, it was an instant gift.
Cinderella – a topsy turvy crochet doll
Amigurumi, Cinderella, crochet, Disney, UncategorizedNot posted for a while. I recently saw a pattern for a cinderella topsy turvy doll, so being one to not shy away from a challenge I took the plunge and gave it a go. To be honest it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it was going to be – granted it could do with a couple of very minor tweeks next time I make one but overall I was really pleased with the end result. I also think that now I know how to make the basic pattern with some little adjustments I think I could create other characters.
The cutest cat ever!
Amigurumi, cats, crochet, cute, handmade, homemadeA cat lover friend of mine asked if I could make her a black and white cat. Once again I scoured the internet for a freebie pattern of a super dooper cute cat. I found a pattern but unfortunately it was only available in Dutch (or maybe it was German!!!). No problem I thought, Google translate will sort that right out. Well Google translate did the job, in a fashion, but I still had to decipher (sometimes by trial and error which meant pulling out lots of crochet) the translation. Also, I’m not a lover of crocheting with black wool, it’s hard to see and count the stitches but I persevered and so glad I did as the end result is one of the cutest things I’ve ever made. I’m glad I scribbled and crossed out and added notes all over the print out as now I can quite easily make more.

A Whale of a Tale
Amigurumi, craft, crochet, handmade, homemadeI adore this. A friend of a family member got in touch as she was having difficulty finding a navy and white whale for her baby’s nursery. She asked if I could help. Not one to turn down a request for help, I scoured the internet for a freebie pattern but couldn’t find anything I liked so I decided have a go at making my own pattern – it looked simple enough. The end result is absolutely gorgeous, I love it and will definitely be making more. I used navy and cream wool but I think it will still look great in any colour combination. I’ve typed up the pattern for future use and I’m even thinking of adjusting the pattern so I can make different sizes to make whale families. I think you’ll agree this little fella has definitely got the “Awwww” factor. To see more of my creations take a look a my Facebook page – Dawn’s Handmade Cards and Gifts. UncategorizedPapercutting and Pictures
fairy, handmade, homemade, paper cutting, picture frameIn my head these pictures were going to look amazing, but in reality they weren’t so good. But I made a pact with myself that I would post my creations – good or bad.
The papercutting part I was really pleased with but I really wasn’t happy with the frames. I think they were just too cheap and don’t look very impressive. But hey you live and learn 😀

baby, birthday, card making, handmade, homemade, papercraftI had a bit of a card making spree the other day, trying to use up some of the odd decoupage and cards I’ve had left over that just seem to be there and not being used. So I set myself a mission to use them up, and here’s the results.

A Personalised Wedding Card
card making, handmade, weddingI was asked if I could make a wedding card for a couple getting married in Holy Island. I had seen this design on Pinterest where the images were flower prints and I thought it would look great with some black and white images of Holy Island in Northumberland. I found some great pictures on the internet which captured the beauty of Holy Island.
I love this card, I love the simplicity of it that makes it classically beautiful.
