A cat lover friend of mine asked if I could make her a black and white cat. Once again I scoured the internet for a freebie pattern of a super dooper cute cat. I found a pattern but unfortunately it was only available in Dutch (or maybe it was German!!!). No problem I thought, Google translate will sort that right out. Well Google translate did the job, in a fashion, but I still had to decipher (sometimes by trial and error which meant pulling out lots of crochet) the translation. Also, I’m not a lover of crocheting with black wool, it’s hard to see and count the stitches but I persevered and so glad I did as the end result is one of the cutest things I’ve ever made. I’m glad I scribbled and crossed out and added notes all over the print out as now I can quite easily make more.
This and more of my creations can be seen on my Facebook Page – Dawn’s Handmade Cards and Gifts. If anybody would like a copy of my pattern please feel free to message me via my facebook page and I’ll send it on to you.
I adore this. A friend of a family member got in touch as she was having difficulty finding a navy and white whale for her baby’s nursery. She asked if I could help. Not one to turn down a request for help, I scoured the internet for a freebie pattern but couldn’t find anything I liked so I decided have a go at making my own pattern – it looked simple enough. The end result is absolutely gorgeous, I love it and will definitely be making more. I used navy and cream wool but I think it will still look great in any colour combination. I’ve typed up the pattern for future use and I’m even thinking of adjusting the pattern so I can make different sizes to make whale families. I think you’ll agree this little fella has definitely got the “Awwww” factor. To see more of my creations take a look a my Facebook page – Dawn’s Handmade Cards and Gifts. In my head these pictures were going to look amazing, but in reality they weren’t so good. But I made a pact with myself that I would post my creations – good or bad.
The papercutting part I was really pleased with but I really wasn’t happy with the frames. I think they were just too cheap and don’t look very impressive. But hey you live and learn 😀
While have an “inspirational” read through my magazines I found this little fella, so sat and crocheted whilst I caught up on my recorded TV.
He’s such a cutie – I love him.
I was asked if I could make a wedding card for a couple getting married in Holy Island. I had seen this design on Pinterest where the images were flower prints and I thought it would look great with some black and white images of Holy Island in Northumberland. I found some great pictures on the internet which captured the beauty of Holy Island.
I love this card, I love the simplicity of it that makes it classically beautiful.

After learning a friends little girl was besotted with Minnie Mouse after a recent trip to Disneyland Paris, the theme for her card was a bit of a no-brainer.
She was over the moon with her card and just as excited to receive her first letter from the postman. Feels great to make a little girl very happy on her birthday.

One of my first orders when I set up this Facebook page was for 20 Wedding Thank You Cards. The spec was Ivory and Purple colours and butterflies. I must admit I was quite nervous making something which was so important and wanted it to be as perfect as I could possibly make it, I was worried my cards wouldn’t be good enough. After quite a few trips to Hobbycraft, The Range and Boyes trying to match purple card with purple ribbon and an ever increasing array of “not quite rights”, I finally got something that was pretty much spot on and had to deal with the fact that I was never going to get it absolutely perfectly matched. Then I set to work making the cards. And I was absolutely over the moon with how they turned out. Although not part of the spec I also decided to make a special little box to hold the cards – however, the box did get a bit damaged in transit, the cards inside arrived safe and sound. Feedback was fantastic which I was very relieved at and also very happy with. A very special touch to finish off that very special occasion.
I wasn’t able to post before now as they have just been received by the wedding guests.

I started to make this lovely lady a few months ago and ran out of brown wool for her hair. After a few months of popping into the shop only to find they still had no brown wool left, my mother in law came to the rescue with just enough brown wool to finish her off – it was a very slightly different shade but it was really hard to tell.
I love her, I love her little ballet slippers, I love her hair, I just love her. As she wasn’t quite perfect I donated her to a tombola in aid of Breast Cancer as my daughters work.
