A Personalised Wedding Card

card making, handmade, wedding

I was asked if I could make a wedding card for a couple getting married in Holy Island.  I had seen this design on Pinterest where the images were flower prints and I thought it would look great with some black and white images of Holy Island in Northumberland.  I found some great pictures on the internet which captured the beauty of Holy Island.

I love this card, I love the simplicity of it that makes it classically beautiful.

My first card order

butterflies, card, card making, handmade, papercraft, thank you, wedding

One of my first orders when I set up this Facebook page was for 20 Wedding Thank You Cards. The spec was Ivory and Purple colours and butterflies. I must admit I was quite nervous making something which was so important and wanted it to be as perfect as I could possibly make it, I was worried my cards wouldn’t be good enough. After quite a few trips to Hobbycraft, The Range and Boyes trying to match purple card with purple ribbon and an ever increasing array of “not quite rights”, I finally got something that was pretty much spot on and had to deal with the fact that I was never going to get it absolutely perfectly matched. Then I set to work making the cards. And I was absolutely over the moon with how they turned out. Although not part of the spec I also decided to make a special little box to hold the cards – however, the box did get a bit damaged in transit, the cards inside arrived safe and sound. Feedback was fantastic which I was very relieved at and also very happy with. A very special touch to finish off that very special occasion.

I wasn’t able to post before now as they have just been received by the wedding guests.

An Explosion Card for a Wedding

card, card making, handmade, homemade, papercraft, wedding

A friend of mine mentioned during tea and cake one Saturday morning that she was having trouble finding a card for her brothers wedding, which was a same-sex marriage.  She said she could only find one in the card shop which was going to cost £8.  At that point I told her not to bother and I would make her one – if it was so hard to find a card then chance were most people at the wedding would be giving her brother the same cards.

At least a home made card would be unique and nobody would have the same card.  So I set to work – she told me she would like silver, tuxedoes, wedding rings and champagne glasses included.

All the things she wanted were included but to make it a little more personalised I added the grooms’ names and also the date of the wedding.

I think it’s something they are going to cherish forever – and it is definitely a one-off.

A wedding vow renewal card – another paper cutting project

card, card making, handmade, homemade, paper cutting, papercraft, vow renewal, wedding

I saw this idea on Pinterest and absolutely loved the phrase to had to incorporate it into a card somehow.  So when my sister asked me to make a card for a wedding vow renewal she was attending I knew exactly what had to be done.

I was quite chuffed with how the card turned out and I’m sure that my paper cutting will just keep getting better and better the more I practise.

My first real attempt at paper cutting

anniversary, card, card making, craft, engagement, handmade, homemade, papercraft, valentines day, wedding

I made this card for a friends engagement.  And it was my first attempt at paper cutting.  I chose a fairly simple heart pattern and a not so simple Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Two things I’ve learnt – 1. Stick to simple designs and 2. Reverse the design to any ink and pencil lines are on the back.

Anyone else who enjoys paper cutting I would hugely appreciate any other tips.
